However, the process was more difficult than I expected. I tried four different prompts, refining details each time, but AI struggled to match my actual appearance. My skin tone was either too dark or too light, and despite adjusting the descriptions, it never quite got it right. I also wanted to include specific features—shoulder-length dark red hair, thick eyebrows, brown eyes, and small freckles—along with elements of my identity as a Pamiri girl. I described myself as creative, passionate about figure skating and design, and a student at the University of Central Asia, but the AI often generated an image that felt too generic or stereotypical.
This experience made me reflect on the strengths and limitations of AI in self-representation. In AI 2041, Kai-Fu Lee explores how AI is redefining identity, yet my results showed that AI still struggles with diversity and personal nuance. While my final image captured my interests and personality, it didn’t fully align with my self-perception. This highlights the ongoing challenge of AI in accurately representing individual identity, especially for underrepresented groups.
