Digital Literacy Snapshot by Ruolan Lin
By making this video, I reviewed the media platforms that I have used since primary school and that have meant a lot to me, including QQ, WeChat, Weibo, Meipai, TikTok, Instagram, and X. In a sense, these apps have grown up with me and I have witnessed their updates and replacements.
At different stages of growth, these platforms carry my way of expression, social habits, and thoughts. From the naive post on QQ to the brief exchanges on WeChat, from the long writing blog on Weibo to the short video visual sharing of Meipai and Douyin (TikTok), each platform reflects a different step in my life. In this process, I have gradually realized how the upgrading of technology expresses our behavior and thinking patterns. Perhaps there will be more emerging media platforms in the future, but no matter how the form changes, I hope to always explore with a critical and open mind while retaining my own thoughts on these electronic media platforms.
Hi Ruolan!
ReplyDeleteReplace and update are spot on keywords! While I didn't use the exact same apps, I found many similarities in ones you mention and how I used my versions of them. For example, how you spoke about Weibo and using it for real-life reflections (especially as you did not have your in person friends on there) reminded me a lot of Tumblr! Great job and thank you for an entertaining and insightful watch!
