Word Cloud Activity- Yuqing He

In this word cloud, the larger-sized words include "technobiophilia", "nature", and "technology". It shows a relationship in which humans rely on nature and have a deep connection to it. In fact, in the current digital age and network era, we are always deeply connected to nature. This is why these words take a large position in the word cloud and can also show that these keywords are very important in Sue Thomas's works.

Initially, I thought "technobiophilia" was a philosophical concept, but this word cloud made me realize that it actually points to a more specific practical connection. We do not passively feel connected to nature. We can actively establish this connection. This changed my perspective. "Technobiophilia" is not just about recognizing the bond between us and nature, but is about actively building it in the technological environment. In other words, "technobiophilia" is not asking us to choose between nature and technology, but to find a way to continuously interact with and connect them.

Overall, this word cloud helps me see that the most important aspect of "technobiophilia" is finding the right balance, rather than making a binary choice between nature and technology. It's about finding a way for them to coexist and positively influence each other.

  1. Hi Yuqing, I thought your post had a really clear way of explaining technobiophilia, especially when you focused on the idea of balance. A lot of people would probably read this topic as if nature and technology are competing with each other, but I liked that your reflection pushed against that. Your point that the goal is not to choose one over the other, but to think about how they can coexist, made the concept feel much more realistic and useful.

One thing that stood out to me was your shift from seeing technobiophilia as a philosophical idea to seeing it as something more practical. I think that was a strong insight because this module can feel a little abstract at first. In your post, though, it became easier to understand how this idea connects to daily life and to the ways people move through digital environments. The part where you said people can actively build connection, instead of just passively feeling it, also made me think more about how design and interaction shape that experience.

I also liked the way your word cloud brought attention to ideas like balance, connection, and technology. To me, those words suggest that technobiophilia is not only about nature being copied into technology, but also about how technology changes the way people experience calm, focus, and connection. Your post made the relationship between nature and technology feel more layered, which I thought was really effective.
