My personal digital literacy grew significantly as I developed from being a casual consumer or online information to being much more active in understanding the ways in which digital platforms worked. Through early exposure to Youtube and online games, it served as a platform to help me become more comfortable with navigating social media and digital spaces. Through later use of social media, I began to gain an understanding of how trends, engagement and other processes in which platforms would make certain kinds of content more prevalent than others. Continuing to build and participate within these digital communities strengthened my skills of communication and ultimately critical evaluation of the information I perceive. Nowadays, I would say my most used purposes for social media is entertainment and communication, however my perception on how algorithms and emerging technologies (such as AI) are influencing what I see and interact with, has changed.
