 The Power of AI Generators

For this blog, I chose the topic "The Power of AI Generators" to discuss how AI can generate stories, create pictures of unreal persons, and produce art and videos with only a few pieces of information and instructions from humans. The blog is created by Pins, which connects to Pinterest articles that explain the various abilities of AI in digital creation.

This first Pin linked to the article explains that AI story-generator tools can spark creativity and provide inspiration for writing. AI can analyze text, generate new content, and assist with various aspects of the writing process, such as brainstorming, character development, and plot creation. While AI may not be suitable for all types of stories, as Benson (2022) mentioned in the reading “Unfortunately, many portrayals of AI in fiction focus too far into the future, sometimes imputing capabilities that are unlikely to ever exist, and consequently fail to engage with the challenges that we face in the near future "(Benson, 2022). However, it can be a valuable tool for generating ideas and enhancing storytelling, as mentioned by Wu et al. (2021), who discussed how AI can support humans in enhancing their ability to create content (Wu et al., 2021). Overall, the implications of AI in storytelling are significant, potentially leading to more diverse and innovative narratives. It also can be linked to the reading “Can a Computer Write a Story,” Story Machines: How Computers Have Become Creative Writers". Sharples and Pérez (2022) emphasize the power of AI “Computers can now write original short stories that can entertain and persuade others”. (Sharples & Pérez, 2022, p. 12)

The second Pin introduces UnrealPerson as a powerful AI tool for generating images. The power of AI to generate images of people's faces, cats, horses, and art magically. The article explains how the UnrealPerson generator works, an AI image creator trained on billions of human faces generates new, unique faces that do not exist in reality. These generated faces are the result of AI-created images, making them entirely unique and non-existent. While the faces may resemble real people, they are entirely imagined by the AI. The article also discusses interesting facts about AI and the reasons why people need to create AI-generated people. This idea can be linked to Lensa which we have learned about in the reading how it made millions of people install the app within a few days after introduced (Hunter, 2022).

The third Pin is for an article discussing making art using AI generators or improving artwork for artists. The article explains what generated art is, why it is popular and provides information on generating digital art with photos and AI art filters. It also discusses the most popular art generators and then talks about human-machine collaboration. With explaining the role of a human in providing input and defining the parameters.  The power of AI art generator can also be found in the reading “AI selfies — and their critics — are taking the internet by storm" When Hunter (2022) discussed Lensa and the backlash of the artist “Some creators have eagerly adopted AI imaging” (Hunter, 2022)

The idea of collaboration between human work and AI work was mentioned in my AI narrative blog when I used Chibi AI and asked AI to create an image showing the collaboration and it generated the below image.  Also, can be linked to the reading "AI researchers, cognitive scientists and storytellers will need to work together on understanding how the creative mind works and how to tell a good story"(Sharples & Pérez, 2022, p. 28)

The last Pin is for an article that describes the power of AI in generating videos within a few seconds by following three steps: generating an appropriate script using AI or one's own script, then adding pictures, and finally using a video generator AI to create a video using only the script and images. Creating videos is a powerful tool that AI can generate and has a strong impact on viewers, as mentioned in the reading 'Selfies and shelfies on #bookstagram and #booktok' when talking about Hana's videos and their impact on her followers (Dezuannia et al., 2022).
