Digital Literacy Snapshot - Peace Omodele

My Reflection

Recording this narrative of my digital literacy journey was a reflective and enlightening process. It was fascinating to look back and see the evolution of my engagement with various digital platforms and how they've shaped both my personal and professional life. This process made me appreciate how far I've come in navigating the digital world. Creating this video was quite interesting. I usually shy away from creating video content because I don’t consider it a strength of mine, so I had to carefully think about how I wanted to approach it. I was initially undecided about whether to make it a talking-head video or to just use stock videos and add sound effects alongside my voiceover. However, this process highlighted the challenge of finding diverse stock photos and videos. The lack of diverse representation in stock media was a reminder of the need for inclusivity in all aspects of the digital world. I eventually decided to go with a talking-head video while incorporating the requested multimodal elements. I first wrote down my talking points and then proceeded to record the video. After that, I edited it and added a few of the stock photos and videos I could find. Then, I decided on the type of music for my sound effects. To aid accessibility, I decided to caption the video and reviewed it to ensure the text matched the sound. This is something I had never done prior, so I had to watch a YouTube video to learn.  Finally, I added a short Canva-designed video at the end to make it a bit aesthetically pleasing.

This introspective journey has reinforced my understanding that digital literacy is not a static achievement but a continuous journey of adaptation and learning.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. I'm excited for you to delve into my journey of digital literacy, and I hope you find watching it as enjoyable as I found creating it.
